Ground egg shell or oyster shells?

How do I get them to eat the egg shell? They just play around with it:(

They'll eat it only if they feel the need for more calcium.
It's only there as a supplement - don't expect them to eat it like they would regular food.
That's why you provide it in a seperate container like you do with grit. You want them to choose when to use it.

Like a few others on here, I use egg shells. No microwaving or baking. I just rinse them off before using them, dry them in a bowl, pop 'em in a baggie & use a glass to roll over them & mush 'em.
I generally feed leftovers to the chickens as well, so every now & then I'll mix leftovers & egg shells together with some form of liquid, then mix it all in with their layer pellets. Gone in know time and the eggs produced have a nice hard shell.
