Ground oyster shells

hi, thnx so much for input --when I go in coop they race towards me and kind of expect more, I guess,since I've been doing it since Igot them. My chicken guru friend who got me startedsaid she gives them a treat 1x/day.
Also, I clipped BOTH wings of a skinny leghorn - got 2 -- they both were flying out but now only one is; H-E-L-P. Fence is 5'
and in coop area she hops on coop then flies out, but my new "run" area is 5' and she's been flying over it-- first both and now just the one; so exasperating, esp since I just finished replanting veggie bxs.

Not an easy task, but you might want to fence over the top of your run. It will surely keep them in there as well will keep hawks and eagles out. I am assuming the one NOT flying now is the one you clipped wings for? If so, why not clip the other's wings as well?

the one NOT flying had one wing clipped; the flyer has BOTH--area is too large to cover; I think she gets a leg up on something -- but Iput a barrier over new gate which is not quite 5' and she's still where she belongs.

I've not clipped any wings yet, but what I have heard is that if you clip only ONE wing, it throws them off-balance when they try to fly. Clipping both wings can leave them too balanced and they are able to fly anyways. Perhaps if you can safely clip more of one wing of the flying one? You could also try attaching some sort of extension to the top of your fence that leans into the run area a bit more, it may be enough to divert them from trying to fly.
