I just saw that some groundhogs have organized for more respect in the workplace, maybe driven by comments like yours!

I don't know about dissing groundhogs. As much as I like chickens, I would not put any trust in them for something as important as predicting the end of winter.

I'm resigned to winter lasting until April. But April 1, doggone it, I'm putting out the eviction notice! No foolin'!

The average last frost date for where I live is the end of May. We usually don't plant anything until Memorial Day weekend. Last year I got over excited about planting in mid-May and ended up covering all my plants a few frost warning nights until June.

I can have, and have had frost in late May. One of my gardens is down in a valley, and I don't put anything frost sensitive down there until Memorial Day weekend.
