Looking at the ones petsmart has, I would DEFINITELY just build one. Holy cow those are overpriced, haha. If you know how to use a saw and a drill, pick up some 2x2s and some plywood and you can easily make a good sized (3x3 or 4x4 would be great) house for them for very very cheap.

I would love to build one, but it's just not feasible. I need one NOW, all our tools are still packed from the move and I have a two year old that isn't exactly patient while mommy's sawing and hammering. That was why I bought what I bought, but now I'm seeing it isn't going to work. It's cute as can be but about 1/3 of the size I'd like.

Ah, well then do what's best for you. Definitely check out craigslist as there are a lot of people trying to get rid of things they don't need right now and you can find a really good deal.

So how much interior space you think they'll need until they are large enough to mix with the flock? I had a thought..weird, but may work.

We have an old night stand that I could use as a mini-coop and then use fence posts and poultry netting to make the outdoor area. The stand is not huge, I can measure it tomorrow. I'll have to modify it, but it'd be a lot easier than making it from scratch!!

How many weeks apart are they? If there's quite a bit of difference then you're going to have to wait until the little ones are at least 12 weeks old introduce them or very similar in size. I would go with at least 2-3 sq feet of space per bird so they can grow into it.

Well when the chickens get bigger, and it gets to crowded, you might want to get a new cage. But for now, it is a good cage and coop to have
