Growing fodder for chickens

hmmm, fodder for your buns? I'm afraid to ask...

ah well, I probably should have let that go but I couldn't resist!

Watched your video... you have BEAUTIFUL hands! I am so jealous! My fingers are like little vienna sausages with pathetic nails attached!

Thanks for the video... that definitely looks a lot easier than it sounds. You talked about shifting bags of wet grain around and I envisioned twenty to thirty pound sacks! Silly me!
Thannk you.

How much seed are you using for each of your black grow flats? Trying to determine how much I should start out buying. The more the cheaper but buying too much and unable to keep til used isnt good either. Thank you for sharing all this information!

Well, this is the first time for me and wheat growing in a long black flat, like you get at the flower places.
I put 6 cups of wheat berries in the flat. I think that is too much but maybe not. This is the second day
and they have little tails and I have exposed them to the light now.

You only want your wet seeds to be about 1/2 inch deep. The roots will all maze together and make a very dense mat. If its too deep you may develop a mold problem so you should remedy that before they really start putting out roots.

How deep should the seeds be ?
Thanks.

Lace Blues, excuse me, you were not asking me if I only wanted the depth of the seeds to 1/2 inch. You were saying that the wet seeds should be about 1/2 inch deep.
I misread, excuse me.
Thank you,
mg
It looks like almost 1/2 inch deep but not quite. Actually, I thought 6 cups of wheat berries was alot.
