Growing the family

Hi everyone,

I am looking to add rabbits and goats to my flock of chickens. I just want to confirm they are all compatible and that disease can’t go from one to the other.

All advise is welcome.

I wouldn’t put chickens and goats and rabbits all together... if that’s what you mean?

It'll be MUCH easier! No mix ups of feed, no dirtying of water, no chance of bullying, deaths (accidental or otherwise) and general care and access should be easier!

If you free range your chickens, them wandering into your goat pen shouldn't cause any issues, but what I mean is your chicken run shouldn't also house rabbits and goats. I'm not sure of any diseases that can cross between them but it'll just be simpler, for you and the animals : D

Just to add, chicken feed can actually be deadly to goats. It impacts (basically clogs) their rumen, and then if they live through that, and the bloat that follows, the high proteins content can cause all manner of nasty and deadly issues
