Growing vines on run for shade?

i planted a cucumber plant to try out this very thing. planted it just outside the wire run, so it would vine up it. the plant did great - vines all over that provided some shade and also just looked really pretty! i’ve struggled with cucumber beetles in the past, but this year i didn’t have a problem with them on this plant. suspect the chickens still were able to nab them and kept the population down? and the chickens left the cucumbers that grew inside the run alone. this will definitely be my spot to plant (more!) cucumbers next year too.

In fact, my wisteria is taking off this year and is snaking all over one corner of the run.

to my knowledge Wisteria is poisonous.
And yeah, it will swallow your run!
Even if you cut it back often, it will develop a thick stem.
Grapes are easier to maintain and grow much less vigerous!
