Growth on my chickens neck

I have this hard growth on the back of my chicken's neck. It is spreading it's a hard, Almost like scab or skin build up. Could this be mites or something else? She is shaking her head a lot too.

That may be the nit cluster from lice. I would treat her with a poultry dust or spray weekly for 3-4 weeks. Generally those take a while to remove even after they die.
