The pictures are of the growth from the top and underneath it. I believe it’s a tumor but I wanted other opinions as well as knowing if I can do anything about it. It’s growing out of the left side of my bantam fizzled Cochin’s neck. It’s about 2-3 inches long and about a half inch thick. There are pieces of feather and skin in the lump. I haven’t noticed any bleeding, the blood in the picture was because he got spooked when I tried to pick him up. I sprayed some blue lotion around it in case it might get infected, which is the can in the picture. He’s 7 years old and does not live in direct contact with any other chickens. He eats and drinks regularly and he acts completely normal.

Welcome To BYC

What is your "goal" for this growth? Wanting to remove it? Find out what it is? Seeking vet care for those 2 options would be best.

Personally, for me, if he's eating/drinking regularly, acting completely normal, it doesn't seem to bother him...I would just leave it alone and continue to monitor.

Just My 2¢

Welcome to BYC. It may well be a cyst or tumor. Ingrown feather cysts are also common. At his age, I would agree that I probably would not do much except watch it.

Thank you both. I mostly just wanted some more opinions before moving forward. I wasn’t sure what it was and wanted to know more about it before deciding what to do. I agree that he is old and it’s probably best to let him rest. I really appreciate all your help. We never want to see our babies hurt.
