So I open the bator.. take out the auto turner... put in the wire mesh base....soak a sock with very warm water.....put the eggs back in...Put lid back on..... took out second breather hole plug.... I think I am good...

Temp was 85..no big deal..then 87...89...91.. so I figured all was good, leave for 1 1/2 hours come back and it is 93?

Do I need to up the temp control with the second breather open. I notice a fair amount of air, warm air, escaping... I am losing all my heat...

So? do I plug the hole or turn up th temp... Or any other suggestions would help.... I have an LG bator...

What was the temp of the water that you added? Did the temp probe move? Temp probe batteries going out? It may take more than a few hours to heat all the way back up to 100 if the water was even at like an 80

It's probably because you took your turner out and the motor on the turner adds heat to the inside of the bator. I have the same problem if I take mine out or turn it off. On smaller hatches I just put the eggs between the racks on the wire and let the turner keep on going until they start to hatch, but if I have a larger hatch I have to remove it and adjust my temp up. It's a real pain in the $%#!!!

Hmm, if the bator has a thermostat in it, it should not affect the thermostat setting if the motor is removed. However, if it is a constant bulb dimmer switch set up, yes, it can have an effect.

You have to adjust temp if you open second hole. You took out turner which does add heat as stated and then you are letting heat out of vent hole too. Watch it before you adjust anything, that's the last thing you want to do is adjust and then your thermometer catch up and bake your babies. After a couple of hatches you will get to know your incubator and what to do at every turn.

You know, Silkie, I would have thought the same thing. I mean, that's the whole point of having the darned thermostat in the first place, but I've tried it both ways and I always have temp issues if I stop the turner or take it out. I don't know what to say, other than I only know it works that way for me???. . .

Water was plenty warm...

I got it back to 99 and opened the hole again. I had shut it to warm the inside back up... temp dropped back to 97. I will turn it up a hair more....

thanks..

FYI It is a standard LG with a thermostat..no bulbs...(that I know of)...

20 minutes later(I forgot to hit send)

I think it has leveled out at 100 by one thermo and 99.5 onthe other.

Humidity is 72 a little fog on the inside of viewing glass....

Will give it another 1/2 hour before heading to bed...

The eggs are further away from the heat because you took them out of the turner. You'd be syrprized at how just those few inches will change the temp. I'd nudge it up ever so slightly until the temp regulates.
