the birds all went to bed last night as usual. The guineas sleep on top the chicken run 6 feet up. sometimes 2 of the ducks do too. at 5am my daughter says the guineas were squawking away. When I got up at 6.. there were feathers everywhere and the 2 guineas were squawking for the third who was missing. From the feathers it looks like it was attacked on top the run which means the predator can climb. no coyote or fox. when I went to set a trap tonight I found the body in the brush not far from the coop. it was decapitated but the bulk of the body looked untouched. what does this and why? My daughter was unable to coax the guineas into a run tonight so they are on top my big pickup cab. Hopefully nothing can climb up there. its 6 feet up and no easy path up other than flight. I need to leave early tomorrow so will be up before the sun to check on them. In the mean time I picked up 6 keets tonight. I figure 4-6 weeks before they will be ready to go out. The youngest are 2 weeks. Hopefully they get along with the 2 remaining from the first flock. 2 are at least 3 if not 4 weeks old.... should be an interesting winter and I am getting a larger dog run for all the guineas at night.
