GRRRRRRRRRR Refigerator raider!

I think you should take her to the doctor. If her poo is runny then she may have digestive problems. They can probably take a stool sample and pin down the problem.
If it is a sensitive stomach there are lots of alternative food. I can tell more about that later if that is the case.

Please take her and have her thyroid gland checked. A thyroid not functioning properly can cause this kind of eating. Ask me how I know.

You don't even have to wait to see the doctor. Call the office and ask them to call the lab and order a thyroid panel on your child. The results will be waiting on you when you do take her in to see the doctor.

Please, please do this now. Don't wait.

Don't spank her. Don't take away her milk or milk products - if anything find her a source of RAW dairy - not pasturized milk. Stick with fresh fruits/veggies and meat. Eliminate sugar as much as possible.

Your poor poor baby. Hug her tight and tell her you are going to help her find out what is doing this to her.

Please call the office and beg and plead for a thyroid panel ASAP.

Given all that info, definitely start with the doctor. Celiac could also cause runny poo, irritability, behavior changes, etc. It also keeps the body from being able to absorb nutrients from food!

They can tell Celiac from a blood test as well - been there done that.

If it is Celiac, the good news is that it can be completely controlled through dietary changes.

Good luck, let us know what the docs say!

I have read through these posts and can tell you that I have tried a variation of about everything you have suggested to control these behaviors. I did not believe that ADHD was real until I saw it worked out in our own home. My DH realized it was an issue for him and the knowledge has made a good marriage better.

Medication (concerta) has made a huge difference for us. It does not solve parenting issues and all the behavior issues, but it makes them teachable. My son (then 7) actually came and thanked me 3 days after starting meds. He said it helped him slow his thoughts and behavior down and helped him remember. This is the boy who I could look straight in the eyes and tell to do something (he would repeat back to me) and three steps away from me would turn back and ask what I had told him to do. Now he is SO much better.

Medications do not solve everything and we did not start meds with out having a medical evaluation as well as a thorough evaluation by a psychologist. Don't do anything until you can get this precious child evaluated. A psychologists can evaluate for other things and rule out other possibilities. MD's can check for metabolic and other issues. I hope you can get to the bottom soon.

I didn't read through all the posts yet, but we have the same problem. Since our youngest (now 2 and a half) could walk she started raiding the fridge.

She will eat and eat and eat and eat if not stopped. She is not overweight, but she has a regulating problem. Her body doesn't know when it's full. (scary) She's actually pretty petite compared to the rest of our kids.

We bought the child safety type refrigerator lock. She ripped it right off the fridge after 2 wks of frustration. Just broke the thing right off! So now I've made a contraption of the piece that was left glued (w/ that sticky peel stuff) onto the side of the fridge. and I have a zip strip type of cabinet lock (the ones that go around two cabinet handles). I have one of the zip strips around the piece on the fridge, and the other around the fridge handle. This has worked great! It even keeps the 4yo out too! (though he's not a raider)

If I weren't so dang tired right now, I'd take a pic and post it.

The only problem we have now is the pantry. I had a door handle lock on that, and the 8yo couldn't figure it out, so he broke it.

I told DH today that this weekend we need to just put a latch w/ a Masterlock on it at the top of the door. The kids all make a mess out of my organized pantry... and the 2yo raids anything she can reach. It's frustrating!

Tried calling the doctor and the answering machine answered that he is on vacation and the office is closed until August 1st. If an emergency, you need to go to the ER.

So much for it! I will see if I can find another doctor that would accept KidsFirst medicaid program...its hard to find since alot of them dont want to wait for payments!

Will check on that celaciac and thyroid panels.

She was better when I dumped all the red food dye drinks out of the refigerator. However much needed to find out first and elimanate foods that might bother her.
