24000mg/kg is 2.4%

Commercial layer feed is generally around, what, 4% calcium? So a hen eating nothing but layers pellets (or mash etc) would actually be getting more calcium than a hen fed on a mix of the same feed plus these BSFL. And I'm fairly sure the calcium in BSFL is primarily carbonate too.

no one said not to leave out the oyster shell grit. Where did you read this?
I read it in the first post of this thread:
does anyone feed grubterra rather than oyster shells?
So that is the question the other posts in this thread were trying to answer: whether BSFL can be used instead of oyster shell.

Offering some BSFL as a treat, while also providing oyster shell, is not a problem. But it is not what this thread was discussing.

And oyster shell grit is a mix of oyster shells and grit btw.
That may be different in different parts of the world.

In the USA, where I live and where the original poster lives, it is possible to buy a bag labeled "oyster shell" that does not have other grit mixed with it. Our stores usually have separate bags of "grit" (hard rocks for grinding food in the gizzard) and "oyster shell" (calcium supplement.)

If you're referring to her post then reply to her please and not to me. Cheers.

Converting milligrams per kilo into a percentage is basic mathematics. The numbers means the same thing. You previously said the product contains 24,000mg of calcium per kg, which = 2.4%.

From a quick search I can find one study, citing another study which I don't have access to, claiming up to 5.8% but around 2-3% seems to be more common. Do you have a source for the figure of up to 8%, please? I'd be really interested to see what they did differently to get the calcium content that high.

Previously you said this:

Which seems to imply that in contrast, the BSFL you're recommending aren't comprised of calcium carbonate. Are you now saying that the calcium carbonate in oyster shell is synthetic, and that oyster shell isn't a natural product?

Edit - you added a screenshot to your posted after I'd started replying. Could you post a link to the source, please?
Actually can even go up to 9.3% depending on the batch

I’m trying to wrap my head around why you find it necessary to be rude to folks responding to you when no one else here is.

To everyone else, I suggest not replying to this thread.
Oh. They edited that post. Was just the two sentences I quoted when I replied.
