Grump Grumps the EE - roo #2?

Looks like a pullet to me.... And how much heat do they still have? The higher the heat longer, will delay feather growth.
They have a heat lamp still but have rooms to get away from the heat. We have 9 of the 11 chicks really well feathered out at the same age. I've attached 2 EE photos here. The RIRs and BRs are well feathered also. That's why I've been thinking it may be a cockerel.

speed of feathering really doesn't indicate gender. Not unless they're bred for it, and most aren't. These guys are old enough they shouldn't be having much heat, if any. Its really hard to regulate temps with a heat lamp, but it should be raised pretty far up by now so they aren't getting as much heat.

Gotcha. I have a couple boxes together and mostly keep the heat lamp just in the one box unless the room gets cold and I see them bunching together. I do have 3 younger chicks that are still in fluff and are needing more heat so the heat lamp is mostly for them.

Both heat lamps are about 3' off the floor.

boxes.... like cardboard??

Grump Grumps feathers have smoothed out in the last few days. Almost 7 weeks, it's starting to get a dark head.

It's a cockerel!
Say it ain't so! 🥴 we'll give him a few more weeks / months but we'll likely rehome him since we are planning on keeping Fizzy our other EE roo. We have enough room and coops for 2 roos, so I guess we'll just see how things work out.

Rehome = look for someone wanting an EE roo, or dinner 😁
