Grump Grumps the EE - roo #2?

When she was a chick she had such a direct gaze and paired with her cheeks and coloring she just looked grumpy. She's not super friendly, but if I'm kneeling down hanging out with the flock she'll swing by and check me out with a few curious pecks.
EEs aren't as tame as some breeds. I noticed her mouth open in every picture. Looks like she had something to say!

Oh! Yeah, it was really hot and humid that day and she wasn't enjoying it. I have 6 EE's, 5 pullets, one is quite friendly, every time I kneel down to do something she flies up on my back and hangs out, she doesn't like to be held though, another likes to jump up on my arm, and just chit chats at me a lot. The other three are more skittish, but two are fairly curious and will peck my pant legs if I'm hanging out in their coop.

Is the one that sits on your back the dominant bird? We tend to think they are being friendly, but I think it is more that she is not afraid of you and showing dominance by sitting on you. Either way, they are very entertaining.

Hmm, good question. She's definitely not near the top of the pecking order, somewhere in the middle to low middle. She's in with 11 other pullets, the RIR's, the BR's, and at least one of the BA's are for sure over her. But, maybe she's asserting her dominance over me to make herself feel better 😂
