120% incorrect. The german shepherd was originally bred to be a herding dog, a protection dog and a scent dog....
And none of those things are traits of an LGD
You don't have to "train" a TRUE LGD to protect it's animals.
You just have to teach them which animals to accept.
Too many think that because their yard dog runs off a predator, it's "guarding" the animals, when in reality it's guarding it's TERRITORY.
If you take the animals and the dog somewhere else, the TRUE LGD's instinct will be to STAY with those animals.
The yard dog will head for home
