Guard Goose in the chicken run during the day?

Even though a goose can imprint on a different species, it still needs to be accepted by the existing flock which could make for a rocky start right off the bat with the chickens being too aggressive with the gosling. Depending on the breed they might end up killing it.

My hens are all business and I wouldn't dare put my goslings in with them. They are currently in a separate pen within sight of each other.

And if there isn't enough space once it's grown you're asking for trouble the other way around especially with a gander.

If you're not free ranging then you should be securing the pen. You can mix a flock, but if you're just learning don't do it like this. It's mainly something free rangers do.
