Got a call this morning that my babies are finally here! 2 easter eggers, 2 speckled sussex, and 2 silver cuckoo marans. All came through healthy and happy and peeping like crazy, no pasty butts or anything. Now if they can survive my 4-year-old, they're all set.
They are beautiful! But I would suggest rather put shredded newspaper or wood shavings in the brooder. The newspaper is slippery underfoot for new chicks.
Enjoy your babies!
There is bedding under the newspaper, I had just heard that you should put down newspaper for the first day or two to teach them what is food and what is bedding. I will take the paper out tomorrow.
I am enjoying them so much, they are soooooo cute! When the post office called, I could hear them cheeping in the background and I was already in love. They're already developing personalities, and we're trying to figure out what their names are. The one with the stripey face (pic 3), not sure what she is, but she is becoming the favorite. She is so sweet and seems to really want to interact with us. She fell asleep in my hands this morning.
