Guess who's sleeping in the chicken house?

My husband Bill came into the house last night after closing the door to our chicken coop. He said, "You are not going to believe who is sleeping with the rooster!". I opened up the door and this is the picture I got from the complete dark.






Mystery is our Cochin rooster, and left to right: Oreo is a Swedish Blue?/ Rouen cross drake, Pearl is a Welsh Harlequin hen, and Dovie is from the same farm as Oreo,

These are are our first ducks. We originally had 3 Welsh Harlequins - 2 drakes and Pearl Our neighbor has a hunting dog and she came over one day and "retrieved" our 3 ducks and one of my Easter Egger hens. The two drakes and the chicken did not survive. One of Pearl's legs were hurt and her wing were a little dented but she has since recovered. The neighbor did offer to pay for replacements but the ducks were only $10.00. Pearl was so lonely and sad after this The next weekend, we went to a farm advertising these crossed drakes. She was so moved by Pearl's story that she let us buy Dovie. You can't really see her in this picture but she is a very small gray and white duck. They are such a happy trio but if the other two get any distance from Dovie, she quacks up storm.

I am amazed at how well the ducks and chickens are getting along.

So cute! Wish my ducks liked my chickens. I have a mated Rouen pair and every time they are all out in the yard together Sam the drake chases the chickens around. Last week two of the chickens took exception to this and cuffed him around a bit. It doesn't stop him, though.
