If you really wanted 25 you could have ordered them.

I put some covers over the top of the brooder just, so im going out there to check that its to too hot in 30 min. I just want to be sure that they are warm enough through the night. What do you guys think? am I overkilling with two heatlamps for 16 chicks in a well insulated box in the garage on a 30 degree night? Will it harm the chicks if they aren't able to access temps above (lest arbitrarily pick) 75 for a 2 or 3 hours over night? I really doubt it will get below 90 under the lights even with out a cover but im a first time chick-mother. ALso, is it worse for then to be too warm or too cold (within reason)?

Possibly, but not if the weather is warm. And "filler" or "packing peanuts" are almost always roosters.

Yes, I didn't really want them, but after expecting them so long I was disappointed not to get them...my own stupidity. And, I also thought that the $7 "small order" fee was for the "fillers"

BG, how did they do???? Didn't get too cold last night, I only saw 44* here around the corner from you!

If you need some extras I have week old ee's and nhr's that I need to thin out. All pullets!

Hope you are having fun!

Last week, when I found out the feed store was down to the last 4 slw, I requested a 2.5 hour lunch so I could run by the feed store, then take the babies 45 miles (one way) and set them up in my brooder. Then 45 miles back to work!
