I have a Guinea fowl egg that has been externally pipped since between 7:00 and 8:00 AM yesterday and while I still see it moving it’s not making progress. At what point should I step in??
We usually don't help until it's been over 24 hours, and sounds like this one has, yet, if it's still moving around in there and been at it this long, it can obviously breath and must be taking a lot of breaks.
Should you so deem it time to help, here's a great article that explains how.
It actually hatched on its own a few hours after that post. The others haven’t pipped yet but seeing as it’s a staggered hatch I’m not going to worry too much yet. First and last time with a staggered hatch! Too stressful!
