This is only my second batch of keets to ever hatch and what I am finding out is that they hatch much earlier than 28 days and it is staggered over 4-5 days. I know my temp is good because I have cooked chicken eggs in the bator each time with a perfect 21 day hatch. I love my Dickey's cabinet. My question is, can a keet stay 2-3 days in the hatching tray like a chick?

I would say 2 is ok but wouldn't push 3 on it. I found that the guineas tended to come pretty much all at once until I started opening the incubator to pull them out. I had chicks hatching at the same time and they were pretty crowded due to dividers I had set up that enabled me to keep the chicks separated until I could toe punch them.

I also found that after opening the incubator a couple of times, I needed to increase the humidity as the keets were having a tough time getting out of the shell. As you probably know, the guinea eggshell is much tougher than a chickens. Also the inside membrane started sticking to the keets like shrink-wrap under a hairdryer.

God Bless,
