Guinea keet plucking own feathers

Hi, our keets are just over three weeks old, and today we noticed that one of them is plucking out his own feathers. He seems to be going after the larger feathers on his wings. Could someone tell us why he would be doing this and how we can prevent it? Thanks.

Have you checked to see if it has mites? Or something stressing it out? Sorry cant be of more help. Hope he/she will be ok.

What are you feeding them? Birds will often pluck and eat feathers if they are not getting enough protein.

We feed them 24% protein turkey starter.

We feed them 24% protein turkey starter.

I feed mine a 28% protein turkey or game bird starter. Mine don't get 24% protein turkey or game bird grower until they are 6 weeks old.
