Guinea problem

If she sets on a hidden nest, it won't be long until a predator gets her.

The only predators in my area are foxes and I have 2 dogs to prevent that from happening.

When they start harassing the chickens, attacking from behind and pulling or breaking feathers, the chickens are the ones who will get stressed out. Chickens don't understand guinea behaviors but other guineas do.

The guineas were raised with chickens. They are terrified of my rooster so they keep to themselves, they just follow behind the hens. No problems whatsoever.

The man I got them off only had 4.
They were raised with chickens and the were raised by a hen.
They have never attacked my hens.
The day I got them my big rooster went for them and ever since then they have all been fine. My rooster even treats them like chickens, he calls them for food and does a mating dance around them, they’re too fast for him though ;)
They chose to sleep at the top of an ever green tree at night but on wet and windy days they tend to use the coop with the chickens.
They are free range. The vet says they’re the healthiest birds he’s ever seen. I wouldn’t worry about them if I were you. All is doing great

I am not worried about them but you should be.

No, Why should I be worried about them when they’re all completely fine ? The vet says it’s fine. Thanks for trying to help.

You have gotten excellent advice from someone who is very experienced at raising guineas. Guineas are flock birds, and do best in groups of 10 or more. They are NOT chickens, and the chickens do not count as companions for the guineas. Even if the guineas were raised with chickens. So, at best, your guineas are not likely to be very happy, because they do not have enough companionship of their kind.

Second, guineas do tend to beat up on chickens. So you should watch your chickens closely and make sure that doesn't happen. My chickens were always quite afraid of the guineas.

My guineas are afraid of my chickens. I do think about getting more guineas. But not at the moment as I will need to buy a shed to be able to fit that amount of birds in it. I am also planning on letting the female sit on eggs, we have no predators in our area so it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s very hard to get guineas where I am. The man I got them off only had four. I wouldn’t say they ‘arent happy’ they seem perfectly fine.
They all free range through the fields and around the gardens during the day. I’ve never seen the guineas fight with the chickens. It’s the other way around

I read that the best way to expan your guinea flock was to let the hen sit on eggs. I heard that the guineas pecking order can be pretty narley

So that is what I was planning on doing as I said in my first post.
I did not say that I wasn’t getting more guineas. It’s just something that I can’t do RIGHT NOW. But if the female were to sit, hell yea!
