I had the scale set to zero on a flat surface, and he had both feet on the scale. Itight be off by a few ounces due to water or egg nibbling, but not by much.Wow, he's big! Are you sure you got an accurate weight? To get all worms, Safeguard (fenbendazole) needs to be given for 5 consecutive days.
Okay. You should start weighing him daily to see how much weight he's losing or gaining.I had the scale set to zero on a flat surface, and he had both feet on the scale. Itight be off by a few ounces due to water or egg nibbling, but not by much.
He's between two and three years old.
Understood. Thank you.Okay. You should start weighing him daily to see how much weight he's losing or gaining.
I've been tubing him with one of those flexible straws attached to a funnel. I marked a bottle at 60 mL intervals up to 180, and pour from there.Did you get stuff to tube him?
Yes. I can't remember how much I've given today, but I tubed at least 100 mL this morning and just gave him 2 tablespoons of 24% feed mixed with enough water to measure 120 mL total volume. Are you getting lots of fluid into him? He needs at least 135 ml of water a day. 270 ml a day would be even better. How's his poop looking?
My female guinea is doing the same thing!!! Can I have a update on this guy? Idk what to doMy three-year-old male guinea isn't doing well.
I noticed about six days ago that he wasn't walking very much, and that when he was, he was doing an odd little shuffle, like he was trying to walk on his ankles or something. He'll do this after fluttering his wings a few steps, and then he'll either stand around or immediately sit down. His balance seems off, and his legs seem weak but not injured.
He had an appetite for the first few days, but as of yesterday doesn't show much interest in eating or drinking.
His droppings are green and runny this morning, and he had a clump of greenish, foul-smelling poop in the feathers under his vent last night (I wiped that off when I found it, though I will give the area a more thorough cleaning with water when I have time later today).
Aside from all of this, he is very alert -- he keeps squealing at things in the sky to alert his fellows -- and awake, and doesn't seem depressed or languid.
I currently have him in a comfy cage with food and water, out of the rain and much of the wind, and able to see and hear the other birds in the run but not be bothered by them or have his food stolen.
Below are two videos showing his gait and reluctance to walk. They were taken on the second of this month (May).
This is his poop from this morning:

He's doing well today! The problem seemed to be worms. I wound up tube-feeding him a dose of dewormer and some watered-down feed daily. My female guinea is doing the same thing!!! Can I have a update on this guy? Idk what to do![]()
