i have a Bobcat in my area too... but for some reason my 10 - 20 year old guineas survive on their own (they visit my chickens, ducks and turkeys a few times during the day) but at night they roost in the trees between my house, and my grandmothers house (my family lives on 40 acres, and my grandmother's house is about 500 feet away with a patch of trees between us).
i have chased off everything from raccons, coyotes, stray cats, and stray dogs... but i was really rattled when the Bobcat first appeared i saved the hen it tried to take (it jumped up into a nearby tree as i was charging at it making lots of noise) of course i didn't know it was a Bobcat until it jumped 8 feet into a tree... sadly the hen died 2 weeks later to a raccoon that broke into the coop and slaughtered all 8 of my ducks, and almost all of my chickens leaving me with 4 hens 1 rooster, and my only male turkey (i was out of town buying 2 female narragansett turkeys, and 1 female brown chinese goose when the raccoon broke in)...
But now the coop is fortified with 1/4" mesh wire and cinder blocks buried around the perimeter of the coop, and just the past 2 weeks i have hatched out 15 baby chickens, 2 ducklings, and 2 baby turkeys
