Okay, so I have raised 5 guineas with my chickens and everything has gone really well. I waited a while, they know where home is, they have been free ranging during the day with the chickens for a few weeks now and they go back in the coop at night.

We decided this was the week to try to get the guineas used to being out of the coop. I followed directions, and let two out last night, left the other three in with the chickens. Last night about sunset I heard one the guineas get on top of the chicken coop. I came out and I think I scared him down and they both took off and jumped in the trees and stayed there for the night. I thought that was okay. They were hanging around the coop this morning. Success, right?

Tonight, we put the chickens up around dinner time because we were going out. I kept two guineas out (no idea if they are the same, or different)... I come home now and they are both roosting on top of the chicken coop. I even went out with a big light and tried to get them to go into the coop with the chickens but they wont budge. Should I let them do that? or is this a bad habit? I want them in the trees!

Mine do this to, if I try and get them in after dark. if there is light or a little bit of light left I can take my umbrella and open it and close it by them a couple of times and they get down and go in the coop, but if its dark they just won't go in no matter what I do

How tall is the Coop? If it's 5-6 feet tall then they'll be fine. They probably want their friends to come out and play.
Guineas are very social creatures and love to be in flocks of their own kind.

Guineas roosting in the trees or on the coops are going to be easy targets for owls... and owls will keep returning for a free meal as long as the buffet is open.
