Guinea's

[New Beginnings]

I just bought 4 Guinea's from my local feedstore that were only a day old. I've never owned them before so I don't know anything about them.

When will they start laying?
Will they need a place to roost like the chickens?
What color/size are their eggs?
Will they lay on their eggs enough to hatch them?

So for all the questions but any advice would be greatly atly appreciated!

They usually start laying the spring after they are hatched, so next spring for yours.

Their eggs are smaller than chicken eggs and are pointy on the end. I can take some pictures of mine compared to chicken eggs if that would help.

They do need a coop like chickens. They will need to be locked in the coop for six weeks before letting them out to free range before they will reliably return.

They will sit on their eggs and hatch them, but they can be poor mothers so you may end up having to take the keets from them and raise them yourself.
