hunting season is right around the corner.
any one here got drawn for anything or what are your plans for this hunting season?

me?
bear season already opened here but i tagged out in the spring. planning to do some elk hunting and some whitetail for big game hunting.

also plan to do a lot of bird hunting. hoping this is the year i can get a sandhill crane

Ahh, there is no draw where we live. Oh, bear season, that is it, but I don't ant bear. Deer are like ticks. They limit us on bucks. One buck, per season (bow, muzzy and rifle) Got to buy the third and three point on one side. Does, 10 per season, 30 limit. I honestly don't know, or even heard of anyone even trying. We can't hardly eat 4 between me and my daughter.

A couple guys down near baltimore shot 30 in bow season and donated them. Farmer feeding the hungry ran out of money and they had to stop.

all i got to say is wow! that is some high limits on deer.

where i live where allowed 1 bear per year, i think 2 white tail (an either sex and a anterless) 1 moose, 1 elk and a special archery mule deer season all over the counter. with draws for pronghorn.
almost forgot we now have a regular wolf season with 1 per year.

I think the sub-urban environment has lead to the explosion of white-tail deer populations. When I was a kid in the 70's - 80's you didn't see deer. Now you trip over them and crash cars and trucks into them. They built communities with wood lots perfect for deer to hide in during the day and destroy their landscape all night. I stopped growing green beans as the deer would crew them down at night before they produce and we live in the country and kill them!

There is one guy in Northern VA that kills 75 deer a year and has a business at it. Donates the meat.

Maryland's deer problem. tens of thousands accidents every year involving deer.

The federal government had enough with the deer damage and brought in snipers with night vision scopes and thinned them out. They donated it all to feed the hungry. 19,000 pounds of meat

Guys out here hunt antlers and the feds again shoot does only this past year.

that is kinda like the moose and mule deer here. my grandparents own a farm or land pretty much in the middle of now where and its just flat prairies, lots of cattle ranchers and grain farmers. well this piece of land was owned by my great-great grandparents then great grandparents now grandparents. but to make a long story short there where only white tail deer there. for as long as they owned it. past 25 years the moose showed up now every time i go down there to hunt i have almost seen a moose or sign of moose in the area, now the mule deer are showing up and kicking the white tail out.

Nope. Got a nice 10 point with my truck last year though.
My property abuts a state park. When people are in the park, the deer come out. I'm ready for the park traffic to slow now that Labor Day is upon us, and the deer go back into the park. When they go, they take the foxes, and coyotes with them.

I grew up 8 - 14 and was the dog handler for rabbit hunting. Uncle and two cousins with the shotguns and I run the dogs, carried all the leashes and went int o drag them out if they would quit running an old trail. I had homemade chaps to try and keep the multiflora rose out of my thighs and crotch, but I loved every minute of it and being part of it. I still love hearing those dogs work.

I started to go dove hunting on my families land at an early age. I was to young to shoot so my brother and I were the retrievers for my dad and grandfather. It was fun. I think it was a both a sad and happy day for my dad when he bought us our first Stevens single 20 gauge. I’m sure he was thinking, “now I’m going to have to retrieve my own birds”.
I’ve killed more birds with that single 20 than any other auto or pump I’ve owned. I still have it.
