Gun legislation- anyone heard about this?

I have a question about Assault weapons. I sometimes watch the news, and when they show the rioting or celebrations in the streets in the middle east there are guys running aroung firing $1500 fully automatic weapons into the air. These guys don't work, so I've always wondered where they got the money to buy the gun and the ammo to go with it. I think that Americans who do work and can afford a weapon should be allowed to be on equal footing with the people who would like to destroy us.

Mexico with border problems?

Assault weapons are not a problem here so they say Mexico is having issues with them so we should ban them?

They are shooting ak-47s which they have plenty of and plenty of ammo. Weapon dealers are not alowed to import AK-47s into the USA anymore so there is more demand than supply which is why they cost so much here...in the middle east they are a dime a dozen and ammo is cheap too.

Thanks for the article link. Does it strike anybody else as funny that no matter who is in office the media only gives one side of the story? It was a good article, but puts the Obama administration in a bad light.... They completely forgot to mention that Bush was going to make the ban permanant in 2004, but Congress never made an effort to renew it.

Now they make it look like Obama is the bad guy because he is asking them to send it to him for a renewal.

If it is the AK-47, it can be bought for pennies on the dollar in some of those 3rd world countries, but are often given to them by the "machine" that is supporting them. THese assualt weapons are mass produced in many countries.

It was GW Bush who said "A dictatorship is would be a heck of alot easier, as long as I am the dictator". in 06 and again in 07.

With almost 70 % approval ratting it will be a while before most of us get mad....Chill out and give the administration a chance.

You need to take that into context. He was being asked about prescription coverage for the elderly that he wanted when he said, "That would be a lot easier if this were a dictatorship, as long as I were the dictator." It was a joke and a commentary because it was congress holding up action not him. The point was that he wasn't getting the action he wanted because he was NOT a dictator.
