Gun legislation- anyone heard about this?

Was anybody in the know really surprised that this was going to happen and soon. this administration is the most liberal there has ever been. This new bill just wants to get big brother involved in looking over your shoulder when it comes to gun's, and make a ton of $$ in the meantime. Wake up folks this is just the start of things to come, and allot more midnight bills that fly under the radar. Obama did say it right when he said things will get worst before they get better. I think by contacting your local congressman or senators is fuetal.

Now this bill is in it's infantsy, once the most powerful well funded lobby in Washington see's who is actually on board with this, the torent of hush money will begin to flow. So when you see your local congressman's wife driving a new car you will then know that your NRA dues are being spent wisely.

I'm happy to do that - they have different constitutional rights than Americans do. Our laws have no reflection on theirs, and vice versa.

Thanks for doing a better job than I did of stating my point.

Now I shall

No reason to hide, or even to be ashamed of your opinion, honestly the people who want to legally keep their guns are not the criminals. The criminals will have them no matter what law they have to break, I mean really when you're killing someone what's one more broken law? Columbine, VT all took place in gun free zones, the killer knew he would have no resistance, the killer didn't care about the laws they were breaking, I mean really what's one more law.

The liberal media broadcast every bit of anti gun info they can, they make it seem like the gun was a loose pit bull that attacked an innocent bystander. Gun grabbing hasn't ever lowered the murder rate, the murderer just chose an alternative means. The killer would find another way to kill, by their hands, with a knife or rope, a bat or club, it isn't hard to kill someone, it's hard not to.

If this discussion was licensing chicken owning like the NAIS, or no chickens within 600' of a neighboring house everyone would be against it. It's one more right, not privilege but right to own guns and it shall not be infringed.

Actually, it looks like the bill has pretty much died in committee. It had no co-sponsors and has not been passed around since it was introduced. Liberal or not this congress is in no hurry to curtail gun rights it seems.

It died in committee once before but was brought back with everything except the parts about having to submit to a physical or mental examination. The way these things get snuck in is by resubmitting them over and over again. People were supposed to think it was a great bill because some of the most radical stuff was removed. It will be tweaked and resubmitted again in a year or two. The anti-gun crowd's idea of compromise is to originally ask for what they want and a lot more by putting crazy stuff like mental exams in there. That way when they take out the most extreme stuff they call it a compromise. Then they can try to trick the public ino thinking they are moderate, rather than liberal.

Hippie as a former LEO I AGREE. Once a person serves ALL of their time for a non violent crime their rights should be restored. I do think the right to bear arms shall not be infringed says nothing of past mistakes. I'm sure I am going to get beat up for this, but violent criminals BELONG in jail, not on parole, not on early release, nodda. If they can't be trusted with a gun they have no business being free. Every search warrant served on a convicted felon yielded a gun, or more. So the law does not work.

If your state does not have specific laws to prohibit it, a felon can own a antique or replica weapon as long as it does not use cartridges. This would be black powder muzzle loading or cap and ball. This has been checked out with ATF for confirmation. State laws vary and in Illinois it is against the law.

BTW get any black powder weapons NOW I expect the laws to change soon. I am looking at 2 1858 Remington 5 1/2 inch barreled armies. NO PAPER TRAIL, NO BACKGROUND CHECK, NO WAITING PERIOD. I already own 1 8 inch 1858 and it is one of the most accurate handguns I have. Along with 6 1851 Navies I love my black powder guns.
