My daughter found our rooster last night with his eye closed and some crusty yellow stuff around it. Any idea what it might be? We separated him and he seems to be alright, just a bit upset about his living quarters. I read about putting neosporin, so going to try that. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Does anyone know where I can find photos of eye problems in chickens, can't seem to find images anywhere??

I've been looking, but everyone has bubbles or swollen eyes, he has neither. Just closed and crusty, no sneezing or crusty nose either. He's been very vocal too. Could it be possible that he just got something in it?

Updat., It's not crusty and yellow any longer, just really swollen. Still not sure what happened or what our next option is. Any help is appreciated

When you say this, what do you mean? The pictures you have seen or, your other chickens? If it is just pictures, I would think he may have gotten something in his eye or jabbed by something. Treat with the neosporin, without pain relief, and see how he does. If his eye gets better and he shows no further symptoms, I would say it was an injury.

Sorry, I guess I was a bit unclear. I had searched the site and internet for photos of yellow crusty eyes and all the other chickens had additional symptoms. He just has the swollen eye, now without crust. I'm hoping that it was just an injury and not a disease that my other chickens would be susceptible to. Thanks again for sharing all your experience and wisdom, chicken people are cool

You are welcome. Keep an eye out for additional symptoms...listen closely to his chest. If he remains spunky and eating well, I think he will be just fine :)
