Have been reading over all the posts about different types of treats to feed to chickens. Found a few posts that mention feeding guppies to your chickens. Are guppies safe for feeding to chickens?
We have an aquarium full of guppies, too full actually, and we were trying to figure out what to do with them all. We also have a tank that is overrun with snails. They came with some plants we bought and we can't seem to get rid of them. Can they be fed to chickens as well?

We put a few guppies in the Koi pond back in spring and as you can imagine we now have billions of guppies... we feed the chickens guppies all the time also we feed the extra baby goldfish to them and they love 'em!

Thanks for all the replies

This is great, no more worry about overloaded guppy tanks.
The aquarium snails are okay to feed as well? Someone told me no as they carry too much bacteria or something. We've been feeding them by the handfuls to the koi and goldfish, but still have tons of them left.

I don't know about feeding them to chickens, but if they are the little "glass" snails they can become a significant hazard to fish. The snail larvae latch on to the skin, gills, and whatnot and slowly kill the fish. If you shine a bright flashlight at an angle in the tank, you will see them floating around. I would guess they wouldn't be an issue out of water, but I would eradicate them in my fish tank. I don't know if the bigger aquarium snails are an issue though.
