Hi,

I have a 3 year old cockeral who is normally fit and healthy. He was attacked by a fox last night and has torn the bottom of his comb, I can't find any other injuries.

He had an Epsom salt bath this morning, been isolated and has had Scrambled egg. He seemed OK - he even crowed! Now in thr last hour he started gurgling with every breath and become lethargic. Poos have been normal and he ate all the egg this morning. Hasn't had much to drink today. I'm not sure whether to let him drink when he's so girgluly.

His crop feels normal. There is no bumps or lamps, but he seems much more settled when I mssge it, and it seems like he gurgles less? He's also shivering now slightly. Does anybody know what the issue is and how I can fix him? Thank you.

I dont see a video, it is posible he got hurt or inhaled something. Here is a list of people that can help...

Thank you so much!
This is the video of him, he gurgles with every breath. He is also shivering and keeps putting his head down so we've propped it up on a towel and wrapped him up, and put one of the hens also involved but unhurt in with him to cheer him up.

Its posible he has some trauma, keep massaging his crop if it makes him feal better, I heard some people say to give them vitamins and vitamin E, I think. I hope the people I listed get back soon. You should put triple antibotic cream on his wound ans wash it out to prevent further infection.

He may have internal injuries. But treat for shock first of all. One cup of water with one teaspoon of sugar and a pinch of salt and baking soda to round out the minerals.
I've given him the water mix and he's taken a tiny bit

I washed out the wound and put iodine on it, I've gone out and bought a cream which I'll put on

Does he have a lot of blood inside his beak?

I agree, give him drops of water to see if that helps work him through shock.

You bathed him? Did you submerge him in the epsom salts bath?
Was he dirty/soiled or what was the reason for the bath?

Did you dry him with a hair dryer? If he's still wet, then use a hair dryer on low and gently dry him.

His breathing "improves" if you massage the crop? Can you feel the "crop"? Where? Where do you feel the crop.

Look at the images below and tell us.

First image is of the air sacs located on a bird. Study the photo for the locations, there are 2 of each (1 on each side) except for the Interclavicular Sac (only 1).
Do you feel anything like an Air Bubble under the skin near those locations?

Second Image. Location of internals. See where the crop is located. Is it the crop you feel and lift/massage that improves the gurgling?
