So I was on my out this am to buy my sick hen some dewormers. I have been taking care of her for a little over a week. Left leg loot moving much, she is laying down most of the time poop is runny green and slightly yellow. She is alert and comb is normal red.
So I am feeding her before I go out the door for the dewormer, and while she is drinking I am hearing this gurguling sound as the water comes down her throat. No other respiratory symptoms. Nostrils are dry and no discharge. I sill want to do the deworming, but with new thing happening now, I am wondering if I should start a rond of antibiotics?

The other 4 hens for sure dewormer now, as the are also a little slow and her coms are pale. They all stopped laying. I hate seeing my usual healthy happy girls going through this. :(:(

Any ideas would be most, most welcomed.

I don't use antibiotics unless I am sure that there is an infective agent there to treat. Even then I weigh the risks vs. the benefits very carefully before I start a course of antibiotics. Antibiotic usage carries its own risks that can prove to be nearly as detrimental as the original pathogen. Birds are very resilient when they are in the peak of health. Even when they are ailing they can often overcome simple infections. I would hesitate to treat her unless you know what you are treating her for.

Sorry. Good luck.

Thank you CMV. Yes, there are no other symptoms as far as a respiratory problems. So I will not use antibiotics at this time. My little Cherry is hanging in there.
