I'm so sorry, but this response made me laugh so hard. Anyway, I'm glad you and your chickens weren't hurt. But now, I'm sure you know not to place your coop there. I hope you are able to find a safe place and to rebuild quickly.

the idea of using the aspen as a ridge pole in the rebuild. I say go for it! Heck, you may be able to put together a whole post and beam structure with it. I think Aspen rots pretty quick though.
You should rebuild it right where it is. At least you know that tree won't be falling on it now.
