Guys and gals... MY NEIGHBOR IS CRAZY!!!! She's the real predator!

If my neighbor was feeding my animals on my property without permission and would not stop when asked, I would have to call the police to have a chat with her. Now if my animals were roaming on her property, that's another story. Are your chickens penned in your property or are they roaming? Why does she have access? I live in the country surrounded by cattle fields and yes they're cute but I'd never feed them treats without permission. It could ruin their intended diets.

My chickens come running when they hear me come outside, but even faster when I shake the treats bag.
Well the landlord owns the property and has a few units there all fenced in as one. He decide to construct another unit on the property only after I had started living there so... He didn't make me get rid of the chickens. He just lets my neighbor and I handle that. But I was talking to him and he made a point that I keep kinda forgetting. She's kind of loopy and off. Also to mention VERY lonely and is looking for ANYTHING to be her "Friend" whether it be a diseased possum/rat or a predatory hawk. I took care of the possum and she started complaining to the landlord that animals have a right to live. My defense was: MY chickens have the right to live too. She's a nice lady and what-not she's just a little off I guess. :l I guess there isn't any point in complaining or getting upset at her when you think of it like that idk. But I still think she's crazy for trying to get a hawk to land on her.

I read your previous post too. When I had chickens I had them trained to come to a whistle as others have suggested, make the same sound when giving treats and they'll come running just for the call.

Obviously you can't be out there all the time though. (am I right in guessing you're in a duplex, or some other form of shared property with your neighbor?) If not, I'd be inclined to complain to authorities, mainly on the left out compost drawing in predators.
Yes I can't call the cops because it's landlords property but he gave me the permission to have the chickens because he only added the other unit after I lived there. So I get to keep my girls. He doesn't want to say anything because she's crazy so I try to say things to her but I think she doesn't fully understand or grasp what I'm saying.... because she just keeps doing it and it drives me insane. She's the real pest. I can deal with the possums and hawks but she's something else lol

Loopy could be lonely or it could be serious mental illness. It's possible she needs professional help if she's threatening her own life befriending wild animals that could cause bodily harm. Maybe an anonymous report to Adult Protective Services?
Well she tells me things that I don't really necessarily want to know and yes I think she does need help but idk if I could do that. I don't think that would change her situation as much as it would just get rid of her for me lol

I would do two things.
Confine the birds and call the cops. Don't pity an old woman who can't follow the law.

If i were to go outside and try waveing my arms bringing hawks down like flag wavers landing planes, i fully would expect to be carted off to the looney bin.
I would expect i would have as much success as walking down to my closest nothern michigan river and encouraging dolphins to come swimming to me.
A harmless but ludicrous endeavor.

Maybe it's time to start thinking about relocating yourself and your birds. I assume you are renting. Contact some mortgage companies. Sometimes they have programs with little or no down payment especially for first time home buyers in an area where you can have birds. Not long ago someone bought a piece of property in my area with a smaller mobile home on it and lately I have noticed they have some ducks and chickens there.

Poor woman talk about some scrambled eggs!
My chickens understand “Hawk” when I say it. It’s how I say it I’m sure. When there’s a full on dive for them and none of us see it coming~I scream. Just like they do.
When they alert me with their predator cluck...yes they have one it’s usually circling way up high. I say “hawk” in a different tone.
If you spend enough time together you understand your chickens and they you.
When it’s a crow or a dove I just say “it’s okay” and they don’t give it a second thought.
Sometimes they alert to things I just can’t see. It’s enough for me to take notice and be more aware. Chickens are so cool.
