Guys and gals... MY NEIGHBOR IS CRAZY!!!! She's the real predator!

so a few of you know how my neighbor was feeding my chickens all types of things they shouldn't be eating in the amount she gave. It was attracting possums that attacked my chickens. I put the possum down and she came out and I told her it was just me there was a possum so she wouldn't be afraid. She's like a lonely old paranoid woman with some issues. And she was excited and said "ohh let me see the possum" which was unfortunate because I just got done putting it down :l Today I just HAPPENED to walk back outside to see a hawk swooping down to my yard and my neighbor is standing there with her arms out trying to encourage the hawk to land there. Right when I walked out and looked at the hawk you could see it stopping it's land and flying back up. I told my neighbor I didn't want the hawks around here and she was like "I'm just playing with them I'm just playing with them" I was like what is your problem?! Why do you act like these predatory animals are our friends?! they're trying to kill my chickens! :l she's driving me crazy. So I start doing my best warning call for my chickens and hurried them under a massive wooden deck and they went under there with me. My other chicken stayed under a chair eating and she was looking up at them and looking at me. But my neighbor is encouraging all of this it's driving me crazy!!!

ALSO How can I make a call for my chickens?? any tips?? I'm super involved in their lives and they kind of treat me as a rooster since there isn't a rooster with them. So I'm always out there or always checking up on them regularly
After reading this I am staying clear of this neighborhood, hell you got one who's talks to Hawks, the other is the alpha rooster distress calling his chickens to hide. Whats the other neighbor do, dance with flamingos??
:lau:lau

I would say her behaviors are probably scary and threatening to the wild animals. Even though she *thinks* she is calling in the hawks, I doubt they feel welcomed by a human waving her arms.

As far as feeding wildlife, what if you ask her to save all her food scraps for your chickens, tell her you will collect them once a week or something on a specific schedule because you will make a special meal for the chickens. You will then be able to sort through what they can and can't have and maybe she will forget exactly all she has given you all week. Then maybe you can give the chickens some treats together and you can discreetly dispose of the rest without feeding any other wild animals or giving your chickens anything they shouldn't have. I dunno. I'm just trying to think of ways of dealing with her since you will be living in proximity for some time. It sounds as if she has good intentions.

I also was going to mention getting her a pet. A parakeet maybe if she dont /isnt allowed cats. I have to feel pity for her. I know it sounds crazy and will never happen but if I had a chance to get a hawk close to me I would try too. I realize one would tear your arms up but how cool would that be ? Signed, bird lover from way back. LOL

I would do two things.
Confine the birds and call the cops. Don't pity an old woman who can't follow the law.

Confine the birds is an excellent idea. Unless she is intruding on your area, I doubt that talking to the hawks is an illegal offense.

@Granny Hatchet, are you the loopy neighbor ?

what some people dont realize is one day you may be this person. We all get old and senile. Some worse then others. If we are lucky. and the older you get the more you realize just how short life is so you decide to be happy and dont really care what others think of you. And when you get to that age you will hope there is someone or something that wants to be w/ you and will be kind to you.

Calling the cops may not be an option but you can certainly call your local fish and wildlife agency or your local game warden.
They can let her know about the hazards and the illegality of feeding wildlife and maybe their warning will help.
Getting her a small pet of her own is another good idea.
