H E A T W A V E!

I just gave the ducks a BIG tub of water to wash in, its just big enough for one at a time, I put it in the sun..... took 4 cat litter buckts to fill it.......... and they're all hissing and waggin tails!

(They normally just jump in the horse tank for a wash down, but I dont' think the boy ducks can get up there, they're DIRTY little boys! I hope they take advantage of the water....

It's sunny here today, and we're supposed to have several mostly sunny days this week. The sun is what gets me from January to March, when there are no more holidays to get super-excited about.

I love seeing the sun too, I am mentally solar powered! Right now, we are in the midst of 30F days and it blowing like crazy. Brrr....

We started out the day at 4degrees F but we're supposed to get up to right around 32 today...and into the 40's in a couple of days.....YAY!!!!! I don't think we've been above freezing for almost a month.

We're up to 45 now - its fantastic! Ducks are preening, and flapping wings after taking a bath, I put out another big bowl with water in it...

I love it!! it's like saying the temp in AZ in the summer which can reach 115 or higher is not SO hot cause its a dry heat. Hats off to you for thinking 19 is warm, I guess it is though after the neg temps you were having. Gosh and I have been complaining about it being below freezing here, guess I will

Wildsky - you've been around this forum for awhile - is it ok to laugh at people complaining about 30 degrees when we are excited about 22 and 45?

I talked to my friend in Georgia Friday night and he was appalled it was going to snow. I know the southerners aren't equipped for cold weather and snow but it very hard to feel sympathetic when I still can't get out my front door due to the feet of snow that blew up onto my porch. I am thinking that the 5 hour drive to the Sandhills could be worth it! I hope everyone and their chickens are the warm they wish to be very soon!

Feel free to shut the whiners up! I would love 45 also, just went to the store and even though it is a balmy 23 out the wind is horrible and I felt colder than I did with the negative 2 degree type days.

YES.

I used to live in San DIego - and I remember clearly a few mornings finding FROST (the HORROR) on my windshield!

Our temp is dropping again, but it was a lovely day - I have mud puddles and clean ducks to proove it. We'll get a couple more warm days this week, but none this warm I don't think.
