Had a good laugh at work today

In the case of the neck turning into a steak, it is always best, as a server to say "I am sorry, my mistake. I will be right back with your steak. Medium rare, right?"

sumi I worked as both a hostess and a waitress. I am also an EMT-B so I know about peoples allergies.
I have had a waitress at our favorite cafe actually remove carrots from my salad for me when I asked if there were carrots in the salad. Left her a $10 tip for going that extra mile even though she didn't have to.
But you need to realize this woman has now gone out and told over 10 different people about what you said and did and the peppers in there. For every negative experience a person has they tell over 10 people (I think I told over 20; different story) and they only tell around 5 a positive experience.

ETA I was in a McD's where the staff was bad mouthing customers in front of other customers, the manager was doing it too. I have never been back there and told several people I know about what a terrible place it was to eat at if they are rude to their customers.

Oh yes, I worked in food service for several years.. Man, there were some real nasty customers... didnt matter, my job was to be polite and serve them respectfully. Period.
I'm ALWAYS polite to servers, unless i get a REAL jackwagon/rude server,.... then my evil side comes out .. :hide
My mother, on the other hand, had worked as a waitress for 20-30 years,... and she expected her food to be what she ordered,.. if she ordered a steak medium-rare, it better come out to her medium-rare.. or it was going back to the kitchen...
I cant even tell you how many times i sat there eating my crummy food, going "Ma, you DO know they are out back spitting on your steak right now, dont ya?"
The sad part, she was RIGHT, the meat wasnt cooked right,.. ... but still, its sad/ disgusting that you cant trust a lot of restaurants/servers to not be nasty and mess with your food if you, "cause them problems"... Just disgusting how they blame YOU for their shabby cooking and service..
Now, my mother being a waitress for so long, NEVER blamed the waitress for the COOKS screw-ups,... she KNEW how it went... the cooks screw up and the waitress gets the brunt of it,... no tip,... angry customers, etc,... Not fair at all.
If you have problem with the FOOD, its not the servers fault,... ask to speak to the chef,..
If your server is a rude smart azz,.. yeah, thats different... ;)

I was engaged to a woman, who's mother always found something wrong with every meal, and that, quite vociferously. It was for one purpose only...To get a free meal. I was always embarrassed to be at the same table...I'm the kind of guy, who, if the waiter brings something just not perfect, I go ahead and eat it. I'm just glad to have food to eat.

Not much I can add to this!
I agree it's important to be polite and friendly and we never ever bad mouth customers in front of other customers. We blow off steam in the kitchen. Frequently. Our aim is to make our customers happy and 99.9% of the time we succeed.
As for the chops debate. I've been slaughtering pigs for awhile now, I've lost count how many, and we always get chops from the leg (up to the backside, some butchers call them pork steaks), loin chops, neck chops, shoulder chops... We ask the butcher for maximum chops and that's what we get.
