Had to take my hen to the vet today, still don't know what's wrong with her.

Pay your vet as much as you like. If you believe it is necessary to use medications and wormers only under the supervision of a vet, go for it. You must have lots of expendable income. Not everyone does.

I never said that it was *necessary* to do that, did I? I'm all for buying drugs the cheapest way possible and saving money. If someone has a vet they can consult, I think it's a great idea. FYI, I use drugs on my birds that my vets cannot legally sell me, like Baytril, but they will advise me on how much I should give and I like to share that with other people.

Expendable income? Not here... My birthday present was a trip to the vets office with a sick peachick.

Yeah, I don't have expendable income, either, but I felt the only way to get this hen back on track was to consult a professional. I do most of my own doctoring for my cats, dogs, horses and donkey, but hens are new to me. I don't mind paying for a little education.

Ahaha, Birthday present, I do that here with hoof care, hahahah. Can totally relate.

Exactly! As horse owners, we've had a similar learning curve, I'm sure. Do I call the vet every time my horse colics or has an abscess? I used to, but not anymore now that I'm a little more educated. Now I treat it myself, and not with drugs I bought from them (like Banamine or Bute), I get those from the cheapest vet supply store.

Well you are claiming that only the vet should supervise what off label med you can use. Again, Safeguard doesn't eliminate the amount of worms some other wormers do which is what the original question was derived from. You showed interest in the better wormer , so I offered information on it. You just wanted to justify using a less effective wormer. Fine by me. I've received some good and bad info from vets. It was my desire to educate myself over the years, in addition to that, which has helped me save much money in the long run. BTW, the Enfloxil 10% is 1/4 cc in the breast muscle of the bird. 100 ml goes a long way.

BTW Enfloxil is Baytril. It's about FDA control and federal money which doesn't belong to them in the first place, not the best interest of the "people".

I know exactly what it is. It is a prescription medication and it is banned for use in food animals in the USA. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great drug and have several bottles of it. But it is illegal to sell it, just like it would be illegal to sell any drug that requires a prescription.

If you know where to look, you can find just about any drug online, but these sites tend to disappear after awhile.

I'm sure if I called the right people and told them where I bought my drugs, those sites would be taken down.

You have it, but claim it is illegal, then claim to have the power to squeal on those you bought it from. Seller beware.
