had to tarp most of the run today

We are getting a lot of rain and wind here in North Carolina also.

We're supposed to get a taste of it on Sunday, so I'm going to check my drainage again, and I know I have to shore up a downspout on the back of the barn that wiggled loose yesterday. Gosh that is a horrible amount of rain in NC too...

We have gotten close to 6". Sadly we lost three birds that drowned when one of the growout pens flooded. We now have the whole thing wrapped in a tarp. When the rain is coming sideways it is hard to stop.

I am so sorry to hear that, but I know what you mean. My grow out lot is a mess also. Tarp on top but rain is coming in the side. They do have a huge dog house to go in if they just will. Hopefully this will be over soon. Big poultry show this weekend in Greensboro and my birds have gotten wet even inside.

i added some extra things for them to perch on to elevate them from the sideways rain muddy spots. lucky for them the run is 16x8 and 6ft high.

i will be adding 4-6 inches of sand in the near future to aid in drainage.

We're just starting to get the leading edge of this, but it's been raining all day. Not sure where that saying "mad as a wet hen" came from, mine are happily running about in the rain.

We live in the Outer Banks (Manteo) and we are getting slammed with rain here too. We had to move our rescue chicken, Lucky, into our patio. Her trampoline chicken run was fine at 6 am, but by noon her pie pan food dish and the red trough part of her waterer were completely under water.

Here is a view of my back yard this morning at 10 o'clock.

Backdoorchicken, we were in Newport News yesterday picking our daughter and her boyfriend up at the Amtrak station. We will be back there on Sunday to put the boyfriend back on the train to go back to college in DC. Small world
