Haha! I made my mom and hubby try a boiled quail egg!

That old saying...

Mind over matter.

The more they think about it...the more freaked out they get about the egg...Go figure!!!

As kelseygirl707 husband mentioned..."as long as it's store bought"....a lot of my family feel the same way...

The more I think about that...the more I get a bit freaky about eating store bought.

LMAO it's nice to know it's not only my hubby and my mom (and dad) that are goofballs like this and make no sense...

that's like my broiliers... my dad thinks its GROSS that we're going to butcher atleast one of them for food... does he NOT know that's the SAME type of bird that he gets his mc-chickens from? *shakes head* LOL!

I know....

My parents don't want anything to do with eating my chickens...

I blew it when I started telling them stories about how cute they are when they run toward you...etc..I learned...unfortunatly...they are a few of the people I wanted to benefit from raising them...

Let me give you guys some suggestions on boiling them. If you have.... you know how hard they are to peel and come out right with breaking them. If you boil them in vinegar the shell will soften and the eggs will peel easy with a normal shape. We eat them all the time and like them better than chicken eggs. Our neighbor friend lives full time in Bermuda and said they were a delicasy (sp) there. A lot of the high end Japanese resturants serve them with their sushi rolls or on salads.

You know what, I really don't care for them fried. But boil them up and I'll just suck them on down. Made a bunch for my husband to take to work. The ladies in the office went nuts over them. Even made up a bunch for my God-Daughters Sweet 16. They didn't last long!

It is funny how some people act over there food. The kids & I sat out in the yard this evening & named the meat birds. Sunday Supper, Monday Supper, Tuesday, ext. I love the way kids think of things.

When we was at TSC my 4 year old looked in the cardboard box & yelled "

Auuu! dead birds. Don't these guys throw them away." It was so funny to see all of the attention that he got.

When I get the chance and space to raise the cortunix. I know my hubby wont eat them either.. No problem with home raised chicken eggs though. He loves those.

What he doesnt know is they will be hidden in cakes, cookies, scrambled eggs, and omelets. With the last two they will be added to a few chicken eggs. But the quail eggs will help the chicken eggs go farther..

I cant wait till I can get some cortunix quail
