With the current financial break-down in the US we have people losing their homes because of lack of work or just plain poverty. The billions of dollars we send to help other countries could be better spent at keeping our families off of the streets, our schools in better conditions, our elderly need better medical help, and our president thinks he can force people to buy insurance that they can't afford. We have our own financial crisis going on, we need to take care of it first.

Yes ture , they fared much better then haiti , because the buldings , roads etc are bulit to with stand EQ's in Chile

But really, I think by now most of our focus should be on our own country. . . For example, I would HATE to see something like the lack of effort put into a disaster like Katrina/New Orleans again.

When the Tsunami hit Sri Lanka, there was greif and help in an instant. . . When the hurricane hit New Orleans . . . There was nothing for 3 days. And finally after that it was slow and very little.

man oh man

Very well said you took the words right out of my mouth. Even though Canada was not hit as hard in this recession, there was still an impact so severe that many of my friends lost their homes, Lost their jobs lost everything. Companies closing over night and giving no notice to the emoloyees.

One friend was a mechanic and ALL his tools for his job were locked in the factory when the sheriff came and changed the locks and seized EVERYTHING his tools included. No tools = No job will hire you

I like the song but am put off for what it stands for.

Haiti makes me really really mad. Canada alone spent 100's of millions of dollars (yes, you read that right) on helping Haiti, and you know what happened with that money? Me neither. Canadian citizens alone raised 100 million dollars. That is crazy!!! People all over the world poured money into Haiti that they did not have in this terrible recession, and the money is clearly not helping. I read a news article almost every day about how bad it is in Haiti. About starvation, abuse, illness going untreated. I read one the other day about how women and children are getting raped in shanty towns anf there is no one to help, the National Guard that is there supposedly helping does not monitor the makeshift towns beyond driving by once a night and does not help these people. A group of women told U.N police ( I believe it was UN, I may be mistaken) that they had identified the man that was raping them and children and to go get him. The official told them to bring them the guy. !?!?! Imagine!! Yep, we sure are helping these people. Not to mention how atrocious the food distribution was/is.

It was a money grab and the world got swindled. I would gladly have donated if I knew the money was actually going to someone in need, but in this sick corporate power hungry money grubbing world we live in, everything gets corrupted, even heartfelt donations to a country in desperate need.

I think as a a world we should have helped like we did but thier goverment needs to step in now and start to deal with issues instead of hiding. I have been sort of suckerd into parents plan, not that it's a bad thing to do but I suck at saying no to door to door people. I figured I would do it for a year and see if it effects our taxes( it's $35 a month) and stop if it doesn't with the loonie here and there. We are adopting a girl that is 5-8 and is living in the dominicain republic, I could have chose so many other areas but this I feel as not many people realize that they need help, usually it's help a kid in china, africa, ect.
