In my almost 4 years here, I've only seen a couple of times where it appeared someone tried to submit work for a contest that wasn't theirs. They were called on it by other members (who are a pretty sharp bunch).

That's not much when you look at all the contests and people that submit entries. It would be a time-munching nightmare for someone to have to do a search on every entry to verify it was original.

I figured, but I was always curious!

How do you guys make sure that people don't cheat? I've always been curious! Do you do reverse image searches?

Yes, we do the best we can. Other BYC members have also reported cheats.

I remember once someone questioned a cheat and it turned out the pinterest posted pic belonged to the BYC member who posted the entry

i have seen google search images appear, and they dont even try hard they actually chose pics close to the top of the page

if you right click on an image one of the options (at least in chrome) is to google search for it

I guess and that's unfortunate. They miss the whole point.
It's the playing along that's the fun part. Everyone's a winner when everyone has fun. That's the whole point!
