Wonder if the chickens can peck thru the pumpkin skin or someone has to cut an opening?

i think it has to be cut or they dont know what deliciousness awaits them

I agree -- it probably needs to be cut open. I gave my chickens their first pumpkin a few days ago. I cut it up in about 8 sections. I expected them to go crazy over it, but after eating a few seeds they took off to the back of the property.

I ended up putting the pumpkin in their run and they did eat most of it the next day or 2, then tossed the rinds out in the yard for the squirrels and other critters.

Thanks. DH threw some stems off baking pumpkins in the woods and the flock ( that don't free range) are really grumpy they didn't get them

Great photos everyone!!
Sadly, most the leaves have fallen off the trees and are brown here
I have some pictures of my baby chicks when they were first starting to turn though!
It does not look much like fall though...
