This little chick was hatched last weekend. I really thought it wouldn't make it but it's going strong. It walks like it's on stilts and the other chicks don't seem to pick on it. The rooster is a BO and the hen an EE. You can see the puffy feathers on it's face. If you can tell by the wing feathers (there's two rows of them) then it's a pullet. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not.

What the? I have also never seen anything like it! What a funny little thing.

I hope (s)he continues to thrive and that you are able to share pictures of progress .. good luck with the little one; (s)he definitely has a cuteness factor in an odd sort of way.

I wonder (bear in mind I know nothing about genetics) but if the EE was part Araucana (the rumpless kind) if that gene could show up in later generations. I googled Auaucana chicks and they looked alot like this.

Really, that's interesting. I don't plan on selling it. I had 20 eggs hatch and it was the only one like it, although one other chick is very small and I believe it came out of a green egg, too.
Thanks for the information.

I just looked up rumpless araucana and they look just like my little chick except it's yellow with dark on the wings (see below) but the rooster is a BO so maybe that's why the yellow. I wouldn't have thought to do a search on rumpless chicks, didn't know they existed. Thanks!!!

Interesting but way over my head!
