Had to make an emergency air hole for the last viable chick. 24 hours since first hatch was completed, and the chick has been banging away at the shell for the last 12 hours and still hadn't managed anything. Hopefully it will manage to finish hatching on it's own.
3 little Ayam cemani babies Looks like the last egg may be DIS. I'm happy with the 3 that hatched and they are happily relaxing in the brooder and already nibbling at their food Next lockdown isn't till Tuesday. By the time the next ones start hatching, these little ones should know exactly what to teach the new babies.
And that's exactly what I did yesterday when hubby pointed them out!
And then they all ran and hid.
Oh, c'mon now. Do I really sound like a woman who has just 1 female rabbit???
That'd be WAY too easy. WAY too sane.
There are more females. Definitely more.
I see a baby bunny rodeo/round up in the near future.
(With more than just these little guys.)
Almost my place...lol
Most definitely. Probably 6-8 weeks? What do you think?
I gave them some millet. I see them out eating it.
They're coming out from under the old vestibule.
On the plus side, we know there won't be any skunks or rats under there with the bunnies being there.
I'm still wondering if the bunnies are pushing the rats back. They're certainly not afraid to chase a chicken to get the grain...lol.
I have a rabbit in my coop, she's a pet, and she is very pushy, and moves the chickens around and if she decides that she wants something the chickens are eating she gets it!
Rabbits are actually more likely to attract rats than push them back, you are going to want to be VERY careful with those babies around them, I had an entire litter savaged by rats when the neighbours got rid of their birds, and they ran out of food there...
Thank you for your concern. Unfortunately we're already there with rats...lol.
We flooded in 2014. (Where WAS my ark?) lol
And then came the scourge of rats. We're assuming they were displaced by all the water.
Our footings and cement floor are cracking/heaving making conditions ideal for the rats.
I've been trapping rats (among others) all year.
Hubby and I have a sprightly bet on who will trap the most rats. I'm winning.
The baby bunners look about weaning age. They're free ranging loose with the adults. I have no control there.
I think if anything would've got them it would've been the guy below because he was hunting rats.
Too bad he was always around the coop and into things. (Even the coop when I was in it)
The adult rabbits will put the run on my biggest roosters. I'm not too worried about the wee guys.
I'm finding the rabbits are helping clean up grain etc which helps keep food from the rats.
(We have cattle and we feed grain/hay/green feed.)
Quote: So you keep you're bunny in the coop? I had thought of doing that...but ended up with too many rabbits to do it.
You bunny sounds like ours...lol. Have you had any issues arise from her being with the chickens?
