Halloween ~ Hatch Day!

Mine is around 70 - 75 for the last three days.

During days 1 - 18 I kept mine at 30-35 humidity. Seems like everyone you ask will tell you something different.

Here's what I decided, based on the research I did...An egg has to lose a certain amount of volume in order to hatch properly. Basically, if you look at the air sac, it should take up approx 1/4 of the egg. If it doesn't lose the volume, then there is more of a chance for the chicks to drown.

Best I can tell, you run into the most problems when your humidity is too high the first 18 days, then too low the last 3 days (causing the membranes to stick to the chicks.)

I'm sure you will be fine. We will all learn from these first hatches, and improve our rates with the next one, right?

I wouldn't worry about your humidity at that point. I am shooting for 65-75% so if it were be I would begin to vent a little to keep it in that range. I have heard up to 80% is fine! No worries.

Good deal. I'm okay then.
