My Silkie egg has the same little pip from before, nothing has changed. Do you think it is alive in there yet?

I see another one rocking a bit.

Nothing for the rest of them yet.

I wonder why the OE banties would hatch early & the Silkies hatch more around the due date (if they even hatch). They were all set at the same time.

I hope the Silkies will hatch.

Most of my banties are all OEG, and they have always hatched early. I have tried adjusting the temps, humidity, everything I could think of, and they still hatch early.

As for the one that is pipped, how long has it been? It can take up to 48 hours I have heard. I never have let mine go that long, but that's just me. Usually after about 12 or so I help. Try tapping the bator, or get a pencil or something long enough to actually tap the egg, and see if it is still moving. It is hard work hatching, and sometimes they just need to rest a lot.

Well, I am still waiting. I think one of them might have moved earlier, but I can't be sure. My hatcher is homemade, and the hardware cloth in the bottom is not as flat as it should be. So any little movement can have them rolling all over the place. I set them in the hatcher this morning, and I went to check them earlier. One was moved to the other side of the hatcher. But the hatcher is sitting on a dresser, and it could have gotten bumped...

I didn't bump it that I know of, and dad was outside, and my little boy wasn't home yet from preschool. But I haven't seen it move any since, and there are still no pips!!

It started the pip this morning. The other started rocking this afternoon with no pips. I should try & piece together a few bendable straws & stick them thru the vent hole & see if I can move it around.

I am just probably being terribly impatient....who me? LOL

Hey, CK...not saying what to do, one way or the other, but that pip problem was like mine. It stayed the same for over 24 hours before I intervened. I'm glad I did. It couldn't move because the membranes stuck to it like glue. It surely would have died, had I not helped. The other one had its beak glued to the shell and couldn't move its head. This gooey gel looking stuff started closing in around its head. It would have drown had I not helped it, too. That is the one with some possible issues still, but both are getting stronger, eating, and drinking.

It's a hard decision, I know. Good luck, whichever way you decide to go!!

I have gone so far as to pull the egg out to see if it is dead, because the wait is just killing me!...only to have to then help it out because I took it out of the humidity! I am slowly learning it is best to let be. You can tell if they really need help. If it is not moving, even the littlest bit, or if it acts like it is getting weak, you might want to try and see if you can help it.
